Proof Cake ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller for personal data collected through proofcake.com. This policy explains how we handle your information when you join our waitlist, in line with the UK GDPR and Data Protection Act 2018.
What we collect
When you join the waitlist, we collect:
- Email address — to contact you about early access and product updates.
- IP address — temporarily, to prevent duplicate signups and abuse.
- Consent record — the time you agreed to this policy and the policy version shown.
We do not use marketing cookies or third-party analytics on this site.
Why we use your data (lawful basis)
- Consent — you opt in by ticking the consent box when joining the waitlist.
- Legitimate interests — briefly storing your IP address to prevent fraud and duplicate signups, balanced against your privacy (see retention below).
How long we keep your data
- Email address — until you withdraw consent, unsubscribe, or 24 months pass without contact from us, whichever comes first.
- IP address — anonymised (deleted) after 90 days.
- Consent record — kept for as long as we hold your email, as evidence of your consent.
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. We use infrastructure providers to host this website and store waitlist data (e.g. our cloud hosting provider). They process data only on our instructions under appropriate contractual safeguards.
We load fonts from Google Fonts. When you visit this site, your browser may connect to Google's servers. See Google's privacy policy.
International transfers
Your data is primarily stored in the UK/EU. Where a provider processes data outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Request erasure ("right to be forgotten")
- Withdraw consent at any time
- Lodge a complaint with the ICO (ico.org.uk)

Security
We use HTTPS encryption, restrict database access, and apply technical measures appropriate to the data we hold. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected in the version and date above. Continued use of the waitlist after changes may require renewed consent.
